Description: Plant of the palm family (Arecaceae) of arboreal size, very slender that can measure up to 30 meters. The trunk may be single but often produces basal branches as thick as the main axis. The end of the tree is crowned by a cluster of large, gray-green leaves. Each one of these leaves are divided in the form of bangs or pointed segments. Its fruit is a berry known as date, orange-brownish in color, sweet and sticky when ripe. It requires a warm and frost-free climate. It flowers from April to June.
